Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar reiterated Turkey's commitment to respect Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity after a quadrilateral meeting in Moscow with the defense ministers and intelligence chiefs of Russia, Syria, and Iran.

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar reinstated that Turkey is committed to respecting Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and that the country's stability is important for both Turkey and Syria, following a meeting of the defense ministers and intelligence chiefs of Turkey, Russia, Syria, and Iran have held a quadrilateral meeting in Moscow.

“We have listened to the views and evaluations of our interlocutors, and had the opportunity to present our own opinions and evaluations in detail. As we have always emphasized, we respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, and our presence there is solely to combat terrorist organizations,” Akar said.

In addition, Akar expressed the desire to prevent another wave of refugees from Syria and to ensure a positive and stable environment for the Syrian people so that they can return to their homes voluntarily and safely.

"We have shared with them our aim to create a positive and stable environment in Syria through our efforts, and to ensure that our Syrian brothers and sisters, whom we have hosted in our country, can voluntarily, safely and respectfully return to their homes and land by creating the necessary conditions," he said.

He added that the Syrian conflict should be resolved in a comprehensive and inclusive manner, in line with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254.
