Tehran highlights other worrisome statements by former and current Israeli Knesset members, underscoring the Israeli regime's non-compliance with nuclear disarmament treaties.

The Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Mohammad Eslami, has called on the UN nuclear watchdog to alert the United Nations Security Council regarding the potential use of atomic weapons by Israel against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip. According to Press TV, Eslami's request came in a letter to Rafael Grossi, Director General of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency), following alarming comments by far-right Israeli heritage minister Amichai Eliyahu, who suggested that deploying an atomic bomb in Gaza could be considered an "option."

Eslami condemned the minister's remarks and Israel's aggressive behavior towards Gazans, insisting on a strong response to the recent threat and its implications to be presented to the UN Security Council. He also highlighted other worrisome statements by former and current Israeli Knesset members, underscoring the Israeli regime's non-compliance with nuclear disarmament treaties such as the NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty).

The AEOI chief emphasized that Israel's refusal to subject its nuclear facilities to international safeguards and its secretive development of nuclear weapons undermine the principles of the NPT and the efficacy of the IAEA's safeguard system.

Iran's nuclear chief's statement coincides with strong criticism from the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) envoys, who have denounced the Israeli minister's nuclear threat. The OIC's response suggests that Israel's possession of nuclear arms is no longer a secret, and the threats to Gaza's oppressed population challenge the core tenets of International Humanitarian Law.

Eslami also urged the IAEA to fulfill its statutory duties by condemning the statements and highlighting the grave risk posed by Israel's nuclear capabilities to the Security Council.

The Iranian ambassador to the UN, Amir Saeed Iravani, has called upon the global community to compel Israel to cooperate with the UN nuclear agency and to dismantle its nuclear weapons program considering the regime's violent actions in Gaza.

Further condemnation came from Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan'ani, who rebuked Israel's nuclear threats.
