US diplomat visits Yerevan for meeting with officials
United States Department of State Deputy Assistant Secretary Erika Olson arrived in Yerevan on Monday to meet during her two-day visit with Armenian government officials including Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and with civil society representatives to discuss US support for negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan to reach a comprehensive peace agreement.
Ruben Rubinyan, the Deputy President of the National Assembly and the special representative of Armenia in the process of normalization between Armenia and Turkey, had a meeting with Olson, and informed Olson about the details of the normalization process.
Olson said that the US supports the process, and both parties emphasized the importance of the quick implementation of the agreement on the opening of the land border for citizens of third countries and diplomatic passport holders this summer.
Rubinyan also provided Olson with details on the recent situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
