Istanbul's inflation increased by 2.95% on a monthly basis and 73% on an annual basis, according to the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce's Cost of Living Index

According to the data released by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), Istanbul’s inflation in March rose by 2.95% on a monthly basis and 73% on an annual basis.

ITO released data on the Istanbul Cost of Living Index, which measures retail price movements in the city. According to the data, the Cost of Living Index increased by 2.95% in March compared to the previous month, while the change rate compared to the same month of the previous year was 73.01%.

The Wholesale Goods Prices Index, which is an indicator of producer prices and reflects wholesale price movements, increased by 4.96% on a monthly basis. On an annual basis, the index increased by 74.22%.

In terms of retail prices, there was an increase of 8.89% in other expenditure groups on a monthly basis, 5.32% in clothing, 4.70% in health and personal care, 3.97% in food, 2.46% in housing, 0.36% in household goods, and 0.17% in transportation and communication, while there was a decrease of 4.23% in culture, education and entertainment.

On a monthly basis, there was an increase of 13.77% in the raw materials group, 4.96% in the chemicals group, 4.82% in the food group, 3.55% in the construction materials group, and 1.45% in the textiles group. There was a slight increase of 0.13% in the fuel and energy materials group, while there was a decrease of 1.64% in the minerals group.
