Soaring cost of living in Istanbul approaches 32 thousand liras

The average cost of living in Istanbul increased by 1225 Turkish liras (TL) compared to the previous month. The cost of living for a family of four is now approximately 32 thousand liras.

Arti Gercek has reported that the Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA) has shared the findings of its “Cost of Living in Istanbul” study with the public.

According to the study, the cost of living in Istanbul increased by 86.14 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

The average cost of living in Istanbul has increased by 1225 Turkish liras compared to the previous month and was calculated to be 31,788 liras.

The rate of change in the cost of living in Istanbul was calculated as 86.14 percent in March. 2023.

While the cost of living in Istanbul was 29,429 TL in January of this year, it increased to 31,788 in March with an increase of more than two thousand liras over two months. The Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions had announced in March that the poverty line for a family of four was 31,240 liras.

THE PRICE OF MEAT INCREASES BY 20 PERCENT

Among the products whose prices were examined, the highest increase was experienced in the prices of meat and cubed meat, with a 20 percent difference observed.
