Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek on Thursday underscored the importance of sustainable, balanced, and inclusive growth trajectories after the Turkish economy witnessed a 3.8% growth in the second quarter of 2023.

Simsek weighed in on recent growth figures, emphasizing that strong growth has persisted despite global challenges and recent earthquakes.

"Our goal is to ensure growth that is strong, balanced, sustainable, and inclusive," he said..

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced that the Turkish economy has grown by 3.8% in the second quarter. Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek shared his remarks concerning these growth numbers.

"In the second quarter of the year, during which we tried to mitigate the economic impacts of the earthquake disaster, our economy continued its robust growth trajectory," Simsek stated.

Simsek added, "We are beginning to observe the positive impacts of the policies we've implemented. We will continue to take necessary steps to ensure these effects are long-lasting and to maintain stability."

He continued:

"Our target is not only to ensure strong growth but also to make it balanced, sustainable, and inclusive. We continue to take and implement measures to restore the balance of internal and external demand. We prioritize redirecting resources from consumption towards investments, employment, production, and exports. Through these measures, we aim to reduce the vulnerability of our economy to external shocks."
