Union membership is up slightly in Turkey

Slight increase in union membership across the country.
The Turkish Ministry of Labor and Social Security has released new data showing a slight increase in union membership nationwide.
According to the ministry's report in the Official Gazette, 2.4 million of Turkey's 16.4 million workers now belong to a union. This represents a unionization rate of 14.76 percent, up slightly from 14.42 percent in January.
The service workers' union Hizmet-İş now has the most members, with 276,360, surpassing the metal workers' union Türk Metal. Türk Metal is in second place with 268,385 members.
