Azerbaijan has launched attacks against Armenia: Reports

"Units of Azerbaijan have opened fire with artillery and drones on Armenia. This takes place on the internationally recognized territory of Armenia," journalist Neil Hauer has said.

Azerbaijan has launched coordinated attacks in various directions along the Armenian border, particularly in the adjacent areas of Vardenis, Goris, Kapan and Jermuk, Armenia News reported late Monday.

A resident of Goris was cited saying that the sounds of artillery can be heard in the city since 11:30 PM local time. He noted that the attack was taking place in the area of the Sevlich. Residents also observed drones in the direction of Kornidzor.

Anna Grigoryan, a deputy in the Armenian Parliament, said on Facebook that Azerbaijani armed forces also launched an attack in the direction of Kapan, using drones.

Armenian Defense Ministry said:

"On September 13, at 00:05, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces began to fire intensively at Armenia'n positions from artillery and large-caliber firearms in the direction of Goris, Sotk and Jermuk. The Azerbaijani Armed Forces also use UAVs."

Journalist Neil Hauer confirmed the attacks, saying:

"Military units of Azerbaijan have opened fire with artillery and drones on Armenia. This takes place on the internationally recognized territory of Armenia itself, outside of disputed Karabakh. A major escalation by Baku."

A video of Azerbaijani forces allegedly shelling the town of Jermuk was posted on Twitter,

Journalist Gegham Vardanyan cited Armenian Ministry of Defense saying, "Azerbaijan is firing intensively in the direction of Armenian’s Goris, Sotk and Jermuk: Artillery and UAVs employed."

The Turkish state news agency AA said the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry announced that clashes erupted along the border with Armenian forces. The ministry claimed that clashes have begun upon provocative actions by Armenian troops.

Ambassador of Armenia to Greece Tigran Mkrtchyan called upon the international community to take action against Azerbaijan's attacks. He said:

"Azerbaijan has started intensive attacks on various areas of the south eastern parts of #Armenia!!! The sovereignty of Armenia is being violated. Wake up, world!!!"
