Turkish forces have responded to a shelling by the Syrian army in northeast Syria, airstrikes leave at least two Syrian troops dead

At least two Syrian soldiers were killed by Turkish airstrikes in Northeast Syria on Sunday.

While Hawar News Agency put the fatalities in a village 14 km east of Kobani (Ain al-Arab) at two, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said three Syrian soldiers were killed.

SOHR said the fatalities may be higher, and there are many injured by the attack.

The airstrikes reportedly followed Syrian artillery attacks in Turkish-occupied areas, according to SOHR.

Earlier in the day, a Turkish military post near the border was targeted by a missile, leaving at least one Turkish soldier dead.
