Northeast Syria: Silava who was injured by drone strike on 18 August died in hospital

The number of fatalities in the Turkish drone strike rose to five with the death of seventeen-year-old Silava Remedan

Silava Remedan, who was severely injured by a Turkish drone strike on 18 August in a girls’ center in Hasakah, northeast Syria, died in hospital.

The seventeen-year-old teenager from the town of Darbasiyah was among the casualties after a missile launched by a drone hit the facility where the girls were playing volleyball.

Four teenage girls were killed by the strike, and 11 were injured, including Silava.

Shamoka Educational Center, operating under a United Nations educational outreach program, is located on the road linking the city of Hasakah and the town of Tell Tamr, and is some 45 km from the Syrian-Turkish border.
