Senior ISIS commander captured by Kurdish-led forces in northern Syria
A suspected senior Islamic State (ISIS) commander was captured and a member of the group was killed on Saturday in a raid carried out in northern Syria by Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), according to a report by Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
The operation was conducted by SDF's anti-terrorism units with the aerial support of US-led International Coalition near the town of Markadah in the southern countryside of Al-Hasakah, SOHR said.
A hideout was encircled by SDF units, and two, including the suspected ISIS commander, were captured following clashes, while an ISIS member was killed.
SOHR noted that the operation came a day after another suspected ISIS commander was arrested in an operation of SDF in an area west of Raqqa city.
