Suspected Turkish drone targets vehicle in Syria: at least two injured
A suspected armed Turkish drone targeted a car in the Derin-Qamishlo road in Kurdish-controlled areas of northern Syria on Wednesday, according to sources close to the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces.
Pictures and videos posted on the Havar news agency's website showed a heavily damaged pickup truck reportedly hit by Turkish missiles at the intersection of Ma'ashouq village, 7 km east of Tirbe Spi in Qamishlo canton.
Hawar claimed that the attack wounded Ahmed Al-Salem, 45, from Girê Merki village, east of Tirbe Spih, who was near the vehicle at the time of the attack, as well as the people riding in the vehicle, according to preliminary information.
Hawar did not provide details on who or how many people were in the car.
The injured person was taken to a hospital in Qamishlo for treatment.
The SDF and the Turkish Defense Ministry had no immediate comment.
According to an earlier report by the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the number of attacks carried out by Turkish drones on SDF-controlled areas has increased to six since the beginning of 2023, killing one civilian and three SDF fighters and injuring at least three others.
