The victims are reportedly people displaced from the city of Afrin after the Turkish occupation in 2018.

At least ten people died in a building collapse on early Sunday in the city of Aleppo in Syria.

The five-storey building in the Kurdish-majority neighborhood of Sheikh Maqsood was housing 23 residents from five families, and the victims were people who had been displaced from the city of Afrin following its occupation by Turkish forces in 2018.

Hawar News Agency (ANHA) put the fatalities at twelve, saying that there still are residents who are trapped under the rubble.

Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) put the fatalities at ten, and said that a fifteen-year-old teenager has been rescued.

The cause of the collapse yet remains unknown.
