Syrian Government forces to be deployed on the Turkish Border – local media
A military source speaking to the North Press Agency stated that “Syrian government forces are getting ready to heavily deploy in Kobani, Manbij and Tell Rifaat countryside in north and northeast of Aleppo Governorate to confront a potential Turkish invasion.” The Syria-based agency reported that Assad’s forces would be “heavily deployed” in towns held by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
According to the report, the bulk of the government forces will concentrate in the Aleppo countryside, an area which was directly indicated to be the focus of the new military operation announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The military source also added that a large quantity of heavy equipment would be brought into the area alongside “prominent officers of the government forces” as part of the reinforcement.
Erdogan had said that Ankara’s latest cross-border incursion into Syria could “begin at any moment” in a speech given on July 1.
