Town center in Yazidi homeland hit by suspected Turkish drone
A building at the center of the town of Til Ezer in Sinjar (Shengal), Northern Iraq, was hit by a Turkish drone on Friday.
The town's mayor Khidir Khudeda told Rudaw that the attack targeted a post of the Sinjar Defense Units (YBS), and that the post was located in an area populated by civilians.
The press center of YBS later said in a statement that there were no casualties.
Images shared by Roj News showed damage inflicted on a building by the attack.
Earlier, a vehicle of YBS was targeted on 11 September near the town of Khana Sor in Sinjar by a Turkish drone strike, without casualties.
YBS, a Yazidi self defense force that emerged in 2007 to protect Yazidis in the wake of attacks by Sunni Islamist groups, took part in the resistance against the Islamic State (ISIS) when the latter attacked Sinjar in 2014. Turkish authorities claim that the YBS is affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), designated a "terrorist group" by Ankara.
