Turkish artillery targets Kobani in Northeast Syria
The Turkish army on Tuesday began shelling the city of Kobani, and casualties were reported, Rojava Information Center said, citing local sources. This morning, a shell destroyed a vehicle in the city center, it said.
"Dozens" of shells have targeted the villages on the Syrian-Turkish border, Jirnik and Xerze villages in Amude's countryside, and Chetel, Qermane, Melek, and Delil villages in Darbasiyah's countryside, causing damage to civilian houses, RIC said.
Also shelled last night was the village of Rotaan, in the countryside of Tirbespi, where the Syriac Sotoro Forces Academy is located.
In this past week, Turkey had already shelled this village, as well as the Syriac Church of Maharkan and the Syriac village of Malla Abbas.
In 2016 Kobani set the scene of a fierce fighting between the Kurdish militants and ISIS.
