Turkish shelling kills two civilians in Northeast Syria

At least five civilians, including children, have been injured near the city of Al-Hasakah as the deadly artillery attack has targeted houses and a workshop.

Two civilians were killed and a further eight were injured, including two children and three women, by Turkish shelling in two villages northwest of Al-Hasakah in Northeast Syria on Tuesday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported.

Civilians’ houses and a cotton workshop were targeted in the villages of Al-Asadiyah and Al-Mashirfa near the town of Abo Rasen, SOHR said, adding that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) responded by firing missiles on Turkish-occupied area in Ras Al-Ain (Sere Kaniye) countryside north of Al-Hasakah.

Hawar News Agency (ANHA) confirmed the attack, saying that the shelling left two dead and five injured.

The two civilian fatalities have been identified as Nayif Ebdulqadir Hiyawi and Rima Ehmed Isamil Hiyawi.

The injured were taken two two hospitals in the region.
