Millions of Syrians are in need of basic humanitarian aid

The death toll in Syria whose northern part of the country was hit hard by Monday’s catastrophic earthquakes epicenter in Southeastern Turkey has reached to 3,112, Rudaw said.

Aleppo, Latakia, Hama, Idlib and Tartus are the Syrian provinces affected by the devastating earthquakes of magnitude of 7.7 and 7.6.

According to the United Nations, around 11 million people in Syria have been affected by the tremors and almost half of them are in need for basic humanitarian needs.

In an interview with Syria's official state news agency SANA, Mostafa Benlamlih, the UN Resident Coordinator in Syria said the sanctions imposed on the war-torn country hinder the humanitarian work, as they prevented the arrival of millions of dollars to those affected by the earthquake.
