Death toll rose to 2 in Malatya’s latest tremor

At least two people announced dead following a 5.6 M tremor that struck Malatya’s Yesilyurt district

The number of fatalities of Monday’s earthquake that hit Southeastern Malatya for a second time after the devastating Feb.6 tremors increased to two.

On Monday, an earthquake of a magnitude of 5.6 has rocked the region, epicenter in Malatya’s Yesilyurt district. Following the quake that have occurred at 12:04 p.m. local time, the country’s Disaster Management Agency (AFAD) announced that at least 140 people were injured and 29 buildings were collapsed.

The quake hit Malatya at a time when Turkey was still dealing with the devastating twin quakes that struck the country's southeast on Feb.6, killing at least 44,374 people.

More than 13 million people have been affected by the disaster.
