A major port on Turkey's Mediterranean coast is still under fire as overturned containers continue to burn, sending a large cloud of smoke

After Monday's earthquakes that shook Turkey and killed thousands of people, overturned containers continue to burn at the Turkish port of Iskenderun in the Mediterranean province of Hatay, sending a plume of black smoke into the air.

The smoke rising from the fire is visible from many locations in Iskenderun.

Work is currently underway to extinguish the fire.

Other commercial ports in the region do not appear to be affected.

"In assessing the damage to our coastal facilities after the earthquake, it was found that the docks in the port of Iskenderun collapsed," the General Directorate of the Turkish Ministry of Transport tweeted.
