HDP deputy Garo Paylan said that a large number of bodies recovered from the rubble have not been recorded. "Unfortunately, the death toll is much higher than announced," Paylan said
HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) deputy for Diyarbakir, Garo Paylan, tweeted, "A significant portion of the bodies dug up in Adiyaman are buried by their relatives without being on record."
Garo Paylan said that the actual death toll is far higher than the number disclosed by AFAD.
The death toll in Turkey exceeded 20,665 across Turkey, AFAD said earlier in the day.
It said that nearly 93,000 victims have been evacuated from the quake zone in southern Turkey and that more than 166,000 personnel were involved in the rescue and relief efforts.
There have been 1,891 aftershocks since the first quake early on Monday, it added.
