Public institutions fail to deposit 9 billion TL in Turkey One Heart campaign
Following the February 6 earthquakes that devastated Turkey, public institutions pledged to donate 115 billion TL to the Turkey One Heart campaign. However, it has been revealed that some institutions did not deposit the promised donations.
According to Diken, the Central Bank, Ziraat Bank, Vakifbank, Halkbank, Turkish Airlines, and Turk Telekom fulfilled their pledges, donating 30, 20, 12, 7, 2, and 2 billion liras, respectively. However, other public institutions did not fulfill their promises, including Ziraat Participation Bank, Vakıf Participation Bank, Türkiye Sigorta and Türkiye Hayat Emeklilik, TMSF, Turkcell, and Emlak Konut.
Ziraat Participation Bank promised to donate 1 billion liras, but only 600 million liras was deposited. Vakıf Participation Bank also promised to donate 1 billion liras, but there is no record of this donation in the bank's report. Turkey Insurance and Turkey Life Pension promised to donate 2 billion liras, but the latest report did not provide any information about this money. The Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (SDIF) promised to donate 2 billion liras, but there is no record of this donation in the organization's latest report. Emlak Konut promised to donate 1 billion liras, but only 700 million liras was deposited. Turkcell promised to donate 3.5 billion liras, but only 104 million liras were deposited.
It is unclear why these public institutions did not deposit the promised donations. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz said that 30 billion liras of the pledged donations had not been invested, but he did not provide information about which institutions had not paid.
