“The government was buried under the rubble, we will heal the wounds together”
Opposition leaders Kemal Kilicdaroglu and Pervin Buldan met briefly on Saturday and delivered a message of unity when they visited Diyarbakir to express sympathy and condolences to the victims of the twin earthquakes in Turkey that killed more than 20,000 people and left more than a million homeless.
“The government was buried under the wreck,” said Buldan, The Co-Chair of pro-Kurdish HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party)
“It is also a fact that humanity came out from under the rubble. Regardless of their political views, sects or beliefs, people took care of each other with a spirit of solidarity. This is the only reason we survive, and it is this spirit that will strengthen us,” she said.
CHP (Republican People's Party) Chair Kemal Kilicdaroglu agreed:
“The earthquake brought us together. We want to heal the pain. We want to be together. I believe we can reduce pain when we share it.”
