HDP Co-Chair Pervin Buldan reinstated that her party could withdraw its decision to nominate a candidate to run against President Tayyip Erdogan depending on negotiations with Nation Alliance

HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) co-chair Pervin Buldan reiterated her party's stance to reconsider the nomination of a presidential candidate after the Nation Alliance announced that it will support CHP leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu as a joint opposition candidate against Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.

She confirmed an earlier statement by co-chair Mithat Sancar that the HDP was ready to discuss principles with Kilicdaroglu before deciding whether or not to support him.

"I would like to congratulate Kilicdaroglu on his candidacy. I wish him good luck. We are not concerned with good deals, but with political principles and our responsibility to our people. I would like to inform the public that we will re-evaluate our policy of nominating a presidential candidate depending on the developments," she said.

Buldan also denounced ultranationalist leader Devlet Bahceli’s early statement disregarding the Kurdish football club Amedspor, rejecting its Kurdish name and using its Turkish translation “Diyarbakirspor” instead.

"The junior partner of the government, in his speech a little while ago, once again protected the racist attacks and the dark gangs of the 90s. He said that Amed, Amedspor did not exist. Here I say once again: Amed will continue to exist. Amedspor and it will continue to score goals,” she said.
