The 'Shadow Cabinet,' a novel approach for the CHP, is designed to hold the government to account.

At the latest Party Assembly meeting following the CHP (Republican People's Party's) 38th Ordinary Congress, Chairman Ozgur Ozel unveiled a strategic move with the formation of a 'Shadow Cabinet' to meticulously oversee the incumbent government's operations. The assembly also determined the composition of the new MYK (Central Executive Board), marking a significant stride in the party's political maneuvering.

The 'Shadow Cabinet,' a novel approach for the CHP, is designed to hold the government to account, with party officials assigned to mirror each governmental ministry and track its performance. Secretary General Selin Sayek Boke will serve in her current capacity and as the coordinator of this 'Shadow Cabinet,' ensuring that the party remains vigilant in its scrutiny of government actions.

Elected MYK members such as Party Spokesperson Deniz Yucel, Gul Çiftçi, Burhanettin Bulut, Gokhan Zeybek, Ensar Aytekin, and Ozgur Karabat will assume various deputy chair roles, with responsibilities spanning crucial policy domains. The party's commitment to fair play in mayoral selection was also a point of discussion, with Chairman Ozel pledging to base candidate nominations on public approval and the incumbent mayors' performance rather than internal political dynamics.

The CHP's focus on governance and accountability is evident in forming the 'Shadow Cabinet' and the precise criteria for mayoral re-nominations. As the party strengthens its organizational structure through the MYK and embarks on a proactive approach to political oversight, it sends a strong message of its readiness to challenge the government and advocate for the interests of the Turkish populace.
