Presidency of Religious Affairs files complaint against journalist over “pervert” comments
The Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), Turkey’s top religious body has filed a criminal complaint against Turkish journalist Fatih Altayli who called its members as “perverts”.
Last week, the directorate’s Religious Affairs High Committee said there’s no obstacle for marriage between an adopter and the adoptee, in response to a question on its website over the adoption of earthquake survivor children.
Strongly criticizing the committee members, Altayli said “Well, we understand that you are perverts, but what are you doing in an institution like Diyanet? You perverts. Get into the porn industry. Do not pollute this institution with your perverted imagination which Ataturk [the founder of modern Turkey] established to provide proper religious knowledge to the nation,” in a Twitter post on Friday.

The directorate alleged that Altayli has "provoked” earthquake victims against Diyanet with his Twitter post.
"After the suspect tried to provoke our citizens and earthquake victims against our directorate by insulting our institution and its employees with derogatory expressions on his Twitter page, we became obliged to file a criminal complaint," Diyanet said on Monday.
