Erdogan has called Good Party leader Aksener a "liar," because she said her party's offices were targeted in a shooting after he publicly threatened her, saying "Don't make me deal with you."

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had the opposition's presidential candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu booed by a crowd on Sunday as he noted that Kilicdaroglu stepped on a prayer rug with his shoes on.

In his address to a large crowd in Istanbul's Bagcilar district, Erdogan said there is not much left to the elections on 14 May, and added:

"40 days are left, and in the course of these 40 days, some may continue to step on prayer rugs with their shoes on. That's because they are receiving instructions from Pennsylvania. This is something they consider legitimate, they believe they are allowed to do it. My precious people will give the best answer to these on 14 May."

"Pennsylvania" is a reference to the US state where Turkish cult leader Fetullah Gulen, once Erdogan's closest ally, then his arch-enemy, resides. Erdogan simply claims that Kilicdaroglu has links to the Gulen movement.

Erdogan also targeted Meral Aksener, the leader of nationalist opposition Good Party, and accused her of being a liar because she held him responsible for a recent shooting at the party's offices.

He said:

"Unfortunately she lied, saying that we instigated a shooting at her party's offices in Istanbul. Shame on you. Shame. Shame. There has never been this kind of vileness in Tayyip Erdogan's life."

Fires were shot at Good Party's offices two days after Erdogan targeted Aksener saying, "Be careful when you're mentioning my name (...) Don't make me deal with you."
