"Let them throw stones, we will respond with roses. We are here to defeat evil and to bring goodness to this country,” Ekrem Imamoglu said in Konya

Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu continued his series of election rallies to support opposition’s presidential candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu in the city of Konya, a day after he had to finish early a meeting in eastern Erzurum where he was hurled stones by the supporters of the ruling bloc.

"Stones were not thrown at me, but at the people. Democracy was attacked," said Imamoglu during the rally in Konya, which was held under extra security measures.

Earlier, two members of the Turkish Crescent’s regional board posted message on social media making an insinuation about “stoning Satan”.

The planned rally area was also changed to increase security measures.

Despite all the precautions a person still attempted to interfere and provoke the crowd. The person was taken into custody by the police.

"Let them throw stones, we will respond with roses. We are here to defeat evil and to bring goodness to this country,” Imamoglu said.

On Sunday, around 200 people staged a provocation in Erzurum during the election rally of Imamoglu. They threw stones to the crowd and injured several people, while the police idly stood by, detaining noone.

Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag announced on Monday that 13 people were detained.
