Istanbul Mayor Imamoglu encourages hope after election defeat
Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, who supported and campaigned for the opposition’s joint presidential candidate urged Turkish people not to lose hope and assured them that everything would be fine, in his first statement following President Tayyip Erdogan's election victory.
Addressing the disappointment of millions with his election campaign slogan in a video on Twitter,, Imamoglu said, "Believe me, everything will be fine."
In his statement, Imamoğlu said, "Just 9 months after the local elections (in 2018,) we achieved tremendous results. Our path is long, and we are young. Believe me, everything will be fine."
He added:
"I certainly hope that these results will bring blessings to our beautiful country. Turkey urgently needs to normalize and find solutions to its real problems."
With his sights set on the future, Imamoğlu vowed to work tirelessly to win the hearts of the people and bring about positive change.
İmamoğlu said, "I am aware that there are millions of people today who are deeply disappointed. Do not, I repeat, do not lose hope. Nobody should worry, everything is starting anew. Remember, the only thing that does not change is change itself."
