Kilicdaroglu above critical 50% threshold: Poll
According to the results of a recent poll in Turkey, the opposition's joint candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu may win by a small margin in the first round of the presidential race on 14 May.
The poll, conducted by MAK Consultancy, suggests that Kilicdaroglu is likely to receive 50.9% of the popular vote, as the People's Alliance's candidate Recep Tayyip Erdogan is set to receive 45.4, followed by ultra-nationalist Sinan Ogan with 2%, and Kemalist-nationalist Muharrem Ince with 1.2%.

Erdogan's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) will emerge at the parliamentary elections as the winner with 36.9%, according to the poll, and Kilicdaroglu's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) will have the second place with 30.1%, followed by CHP ally nationalist Good Party with 12.6%, the Green Left Party with 10.4%, and AKP ally far right Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) with 6.6%.
The pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) will run for parliament under the sister Green Left's banner to circumvent its possible closure by the Constitutional Court.
The poll also suggests that Muharrem Ince's Homeland Party and ultra-nationalist Victory Party will fall short of the threshold of 7%, with respectively 0.9% and 0.4%.
