TTB: Real coronavirus figures twice as big than the Ministry's numbers
The Turkish Medical Association (TTB) argued that coronavirus cases in Turkey are twice the figures announced by the Ministry of Health, according to a survey conducted in 39 cities on family physicians, VOA Turkish reported.
The survey showed that there were approximately 16 thousand new cases per day and every other family physician was infected with the virus.
“We want measures to be taken seriously. We want the face mask to be mandatory again in public transportation. Noone wears face masks even in hospitals, where it is mandatory. At least the mask has protection, we strongly recommend it," TTB Central Council Member Aydin Sirin said, according to VOA Turkish.
Health Minister Fahrettin Koca admitted on Tuesday that the patient load on hospitals tripled but downplayed concerns: “We can easily say that we do not have serious hospital load. We see that these increases are not significant and serious in intensive care units” he said.
According to the weekly Covid-19 data announced by the Ministry of Health, 117 thousand 95 people tested positive for the week of 4-10 July, and 31 people died.
