"We have decided to compete in the coming elections under the Labor and Freedom Alliance," representatives of six parties have said after a crucial meeting.

A bloc of six parties, including the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), the Workers' Party of Turkey (TIP) and the Labor Party (EMEP), released a statement after a meeting on Thursday saying that they have decided to compete in the coming elections not individually but as an alliance.

The statement said:

"A political will has emerged to turn the bloc, which was initially formed as an alliance of struggle, into an elections alliance, and to make it even broader in the process. We have decided to compete in the coming elections under the Labor and Freedom Alliance. We are determined to take steps that will protect and further improve the achievements of the parties that are part of the alliance, in particular HDP.

The statement added that the alliance's stance regarding the coming presidential election was also thoroughly discussed in the meeting.

"We will share our stance with the public in the shortest time in a press conference," it noted.
