Six workers killed at construction site in Western Turkey
Six people were killed at a construction site in western Turkey on Friday, Turkish officials said.
Izmir Governor Yavuz Selim Kosger tweeted that the deaths occurred during a tower extension of a building after the construction crane collapsed in Bornova district
The NTV news channel reported that the crane, belonging to a hotel construction site in the Bornova district, fell towards the building, with some pieces falling off onto the construction containers where the workers stayed. Fellow workers said they earlier wanted the administration to change the place of the containers but were denied.
Turkish broadcaster CNN Turk said a new hotel was being built at the site. Footage showed a crane dangling from the upper floors of a building.
