Makbule Ozer was convicted of “helping a terrorist organization” after a guest with a fake id was captured at her house

Makbule Ozer (80), who was sentenced over two years of prison for helping a terrorist organization and jailed together with her husband Hadi Ozer (78) in May this year, was released on Wednesday after months behind bars, despite her aggravating health, Gazete Duvar reported.

The Forensic Medicine Institute decided to postpone the sentence for one year for Ozer who could not meet her needs alone in prison, but her husband still stays imprisoned.

“Good news, mother is released. Hope father is next,” tweeted her son after he accompanied her out of prison.

Makbule Ozer, a renowned Kurdish healer in her village in southeastern city of Van said she has been frequently visited by villagers seeking healing, when security forces captured a woman who was affiliated with PKK (Kurdish Workers Party) in her house in 2018. Later both she and her husband was charged and convicted for helping a terrorist organization and jailed.
