Turkey launches probe into MD who warned of vaccine shortage
As a latest episode of Turkey’s intensifying pressure on healthcare workers, Health Ministry has launched an investigation into Haci Yusuf Eryazgan, the head of southern Urfa’s Family Physicians’ Association who warned of vaccine shortages.
Two weeks ago, Eryazgan said they are facing problems over the supply of Tuberculosis, Hepatitis B and Polio jabs.
"Instead of solving the problem, the ministry is coming after those who voice it," Eryazgan told Birgun newspaper on Friday, commenting on the investigation.
Urfa Medical Chamber slammed the probe as “unacceptable”.
"The most basic duties of NGOs and professional organizations are to voice the existing problems and to call the authorities to work for a solution," the chamber said.
Unity Solidarity Union also announced that they will stand by Dr. Eryazgan, Birgun said.
