Turkey: Police disperse teachers who went on a one day strike for rights
Teachers across Turkey on Wednesday went on a one day strike to demand the annulment of a new law that hardens career development with routine central examinations as well as an increase in wages that fell below the poverty line.
In Istanbul, members of education unions came together in Cemberlitas district to make a press statement when the police brutally intervened to disperse crowds.
Videos posted on social media showed demonstrators trying to resist police while being taken into custody.

The unions demanded an immediate cancellation of a career exam to be held on November 9, which was decided as a result of the new law. They also asked for decent wages for all teachers without discrimination and an end to tax bracket injustice.
