Turkey summons French envoy for “anti-Turkey” propaganda in Paris protests
The Turkish Foreign Ministry on Monday has summoned the French ambassador to the country over “anti-Turkey propaganda” that it alleged that France failed to stop during protests following the deadly Paris shooting.
"We expressed our dissatisfaction with the black propaganda launched by the PKK circles against our country and with the fact that the French government and some politicians are used as a tool in this propaganda," a diplomatic source said, France24 reported.
The demonstrations in Paris broke out after a French gunman who later defined himself as a “racist” opened fire at a Kurdish cultural center and nearby Kurdish cafe in the French capital's busy central 10th district on Friday, killing two men and a woman.
The protests organized by the Kurdish Democratic Council in France (CDK-F) was held at Republic Square on Saturday, followed by violent incidents in which cars were overturned, shop windows were damaged and fires set alight near the square.
"We expect France to act prudently in the face of the aforementioned incident," the source said.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s foreign policy advisor Ibrahim Kalin on Monday also blamed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) over the unrest in Paris.
“This is PKK in France. The same terrorist organization you support in Syria. The same PKK that has killed thousands of Turks, Kurds & security forces over the last 40 years. Now they are burning the streets of Paris. Will you still remain silent?” Kalin wrote on Twitter.
