Turkish DM and military top brass visit headquarters at Syrian border
Turkish Defense Minister and four top military commanders of the Turkish Armed Forces visited a command center at the Turkish-Syrian border on Sunday.
Minister Hulusi Akar was accompanied in his visit to the border province of Hatay by the Chief-of-Staff Yasar Guler, Army Commander Musa Avsever, Navy Commander Ercument Tatlioglu and Air Force Commander Atilla Gulan.
Akar and the military officials inspected the sectoral command of operations in "Spring Shield" area in Northwestern Syria, Turkish state news agency AA said.
The military campaign dubbed "Operation Spring Shield" was launched on 27 February 2020, and resulted in the occupation of 370 settlements in a territory of 3,394 square meters in Idlib Governorate, according to the information provided by the Turkish Defense Ministry.
Turkish President recently reiterated on 23 November that the Turkish military is prepared to launch a land offensive against Kurdish-led militia in Northern Syria "when the time is right."
He said:
"While we carry on incessantly with our air raids, we will also launch a land offensive to deliver a blow to the terrorists when the time is right."
