Turkish professor: "Great epic of heroism!Turkish people martyred while headbutting low-flying jets during coup attempt in 2016"
Turkey is marking the seventh anniversary of the failed coup of 15 July 2016; the Turkish government claims it was perpetrated by the Gulen movement.
In a live broadcast at HABERTURK, Mazhar Baglı, a professor at Turkey’s Konya Karatay University, said some Turks have been martyred while trying to headbutt low-flying F-16 jets from the top of a 11-story apartment building on the night of the coup attempt.
“When the FETO terrorist organization attempted the coup, for the first time in the Republic of Turkey’s history, the society achieved an incredible success by writing a great epic of heroism that no one could predict. People have been martyred while trying to headbutt low-flying jets, from the top of a 11-story apartment building,” Bagli said.
Turkey accuses the Gulen movement and its leader Fethullah Gulen, living in self-imposed exile in the US, for trying to overthrow the government with the 15 July 2016 coup attempt. Gulen denies the charges.
