Word of the year in Turkey in 2022: “Inflation”
As a result of the survey conducted by DW Turkish on social media, "inflation" was chosen as the word of the year.

DW Turkish asked its followers on Twitter their choice to find out the word of the year in 2022. As a result of the survey, the word that marked the year was chosen as "inflation".
More than 11 thousand people participated in the survey with 59.3% favored the word “inflation” while 31.6 % voter for “price rise”percent of the vote.
Third place in the poll was "war", which is among the candidate words because of the war in Ukraine. 6.6 percent of the respondents voted for this word.

In the 4th place was the word "normalization", with 2% of the votes, after a year when Turkey's attempts in foreign policy marked a normalization with countries such as Egypt, Israel, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Armenia and Syria.
In last year’s survey, "dollar" received the most votes while "inflation" was chosen as second. "Vaccine" was third and "Interest" was fourth.
